Acquisition Angels 2018 -2019

When the Thomas Wolsey Ipswich's Greatest Son exhibition opened last year in Ipswich Museums' Christchurch Mansion, few people knew about Wolsey's Angels – four bronze angels created in 1524 for his lavish tomb. Wolsey fell from grace and his Angels were lost until the 1990s when they were bought by the Art Fund, and the Victoria and Albert Museum, who kindly loaned them to the exhibition.

12,000 people enjoyed this exciting event!

FoIM formed a CHOIR OF ANGELS which enabled members of the public to become Archangels, Angels, Seraphims. Some remembered loved ones for a donation of only £10. The response was immediate and the Campaign raised over £7,000. Donors were acknowledged on a panel within the Exhibition and in the FoIM Spring Newsletter.
