The final exhibition of the year-long Constable celebrations is going to be rather different as it will provide an opportunity for the local community to explore Constable’s legacy.
Highlighting the artistic and cultural relevancy of Constable’s art through a range of community responses, it will feature work produced over the anniversary year through varied engagement opportunities including community partners and participating schools. The exhibition will offer a final moment of celebration for Constable 250.
Suffolk Artlink’s Brave Art Unlimited groups for adults with learning disabilities will showcase a new body of mixed media works inspired by the work of Constable and their own portraits, cloudscapes and windmills. A youth-led group from Community Hub Ipswich are creating a new immersive artwork, bringing to life the essence of “Constable Country” through sound, sight and texture.
Join Art Curator Emma Roodhouse for this, our final Constable event, as she reflects on the extraordinary year that we have so thoroughly enjoyed. Emma is the author of the brilliant books Creating Constable (supported by the Friends) and Constable 250: A Cast of Characters, so do be sure to take advantage of the Friends’ 10% discount on all purchases in the Mansion shop as you do a little pre-Christmas shopping.
