In Ipswich we are very blessed to have Emma Roodhouse as our Art Collections and Learning Curator. She is not only a fount of knowledge about all our artworks, she is also a powerhouse on the English art scene, with the influence and reputation to bring iconic works to the Mansion such as Rodin’s The Kiss and Constable’s Salisbury Cathedral from the Meadows. So in demand is she that she has spent the past few months on secondment to Tate Britain to assist them with their Gainsborough 2027 exhibition, and in this online event she will share with us her experiences at the Tate, give us background information on the three Constable 250 exhibitions at the Mansion next year, and even give us a sneak preview of her next book on Constable (to be published next spring).
This online talk will begin at 7pm (though to enable a prompt start we encourage you to join us from 6.45pm) and there is a small charge of £5 per connection – you can have as many viewers as you want. Payment details are on page 27 of our Winter newsletter (using the reference ZOOM) and please confirm by emailing contact@foim.org.uk when we will send you the meeting ID and password. On the night you will be admitted from the virtual waiting room, and we ask you to initially mute your microphone, though of course there will be an opportunity to ask Emma questions too.
