Venue - Christchurch Mansion
Cost - Friends £7, Guests £10 (includes tea/coffee and cake)
A Cast of Characters is the first of three exhibitions at the Mansion in 2026 celebrating Suffolk’s most famous artist, and is an introduction to those who inspired and supported him. It will feature the glories of the Ipswich collection alongside loans rarely available to view from private collections, as well as new works created by international sculptor and Constable’s descendant, Sasha Constable.
The exhibition opens on 28 March, and so our preview event will allow privileged access (when the Mansion is otherwise closed) in the company of Art Collections and Learning Curator Emma Roodhouse who has masterminded all the Constable exhibitions. Emma is also the author of the brilliant book Creating Constable (supported by the Friends) that is available to buy at the Mansion shop – with Constable’s big year ahead this will make a timely Christmas gift: don’t forget that members of the Friends get a 10% discount on all items purchased there. Tea, coffee and delicious cakes will be served in the Great Hall after our visit to the Wolsey Art Gallery.
Booking is via the on-line booking link above or by contact@ foim.org.uk. See p27 of our Winter newsletter for payment details, and please add PREVIEW for reference.
