Summer Party - Happy Birthday John!

Venue - Christchurch Mansion

Cost - £25 (members only), to include cake, strawberries and cream and a glass or two of Pimm’s, wine or soft drinks

We are excited to be celebrating Constable’s 250th birthday (just a few hours early) with a very special party featuring words, music, friendship and cake!

The event will begin in the Great Hall where, for the first time in almost a century, we will have the chance to hear the recently restored “Constable Cello” (the subject of our latest Angels campaign) made in 1802 in East Bergholt by John Dunthorne and played for us by the wonderful Melanie Woodcock. The music will be interspersed with readings by our very own Susan Owens from her book Constable’s Year that was BBC Radio 4’s Book of the Week back in February. We will then head outside (weather permitting) for strawberries and cream and the cutting of a very special birthday cake.

Early booking is strongly encouraged for this popular event (do note that as for our other 2026 events, this is for members only).

Booking is via the on-line booking link above or by contact@ foim.org.uk. See p27 of our Spring newsletter for payment details, and please add CAKE for reference.
